Ballymena town is the natural geographic centre of County Antrim, an equal distance (approximately 30 miles) from both the city of Belfast and the magnificent scenery of the Causeway Coast, and a perfect base for exploring the Nine Glens of Antrim. The town centre is a shopaholic’s dream, with its wide range of independent and exclusive shops selling fashion, local crafts, ceramics and jewellery.
Close by are the picturesque villages of Broughshane (known as the Garden Village of Ulster), and Gracehill (a conservation area and Moravian settlement dating back to 1765).
Just beyond Broughshane is Slemish Mountain, where St. Patrick reputedly herded livestock in the 5th. Century. It is the place to be on St. Patrick’s day (17th. March) and organized tours and pilgrimages are available.
We would strongly recommend that you visit our friendly and helpful Tourist Information Centre in Church Street. They provide a wide range of information and will help you make the most of your stay.
Please have a look at Martin Goode's website for watercolour paintings of Ballymena and other awe inspiring locations here in Ireland.
